Willie Lovejoy

Services for Willie Lovejoy, 64, of Grand Rapids, Mich., are at 11 a.m., Nov. 14, 2009, at Reyers North Valley Chapel in Grand Rapids. The Rev. Mikeal Lovejoy, St. Peter M.B. Church, Pelham and the Rev. Dr. I.L. Mullins Sr., First Missionary Baptist Church, Thomasville, will officiate and interment is in Grand Rapids. Pallbearers are family and friends. An honor guard will conduct military rites. Mr. Lovejoy died Nov. 5 at Archbold Hospital. Born Jan. 26, 1945, in Ochlocknee, Thomas County, Ga., he was a son of Mike and Mattie Kate Lovejoy. He was married to Chun Lee Wallar who preceded him in death on July 15, 2009. He was a 1963 graduate of Magnolia High School and served 21 years in the U.S. Army before retiring at the rank of a sergeant first class. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Lovejoy of Miami, Fla.; son, Terrance Lovejoy of Sidney, Ohio; daughters, Beverly Lovejoy of Atlanta, Kimberly Lovejoy Broadie of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Kendall Lovejoy of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Karen Lovejoy of Norcross, Susan Wohlford of Grand Rapids, Mich.; son, Tommy Wallar of Grand Rapids; sisters, Josephine L. Mullins of Thomasville, Mattie Lovejoy of Hartford, Conn., Rosa Lovejoy of Thomasville; brothers, Jerome Lovejoy, the Rev. Mikeal Lovejoy both of Thomasville; sister, Carla Lovejoy of Tampa, Fla.; five granddaughters; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; a devoted adopted mother, Hazel Nixon Beard; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association in his memory. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
