l Joseph “Joe” H. Ponder, 89, of Pelham, died Saturday at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. Local survivors include his wife, Hilda H. Ponder of Pelham; daughter, Teresa Joann Welch of Pelham; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Wayne Ponder and Alene of Pelham. — Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home

l Gladys Thomas, 83, of Boston, died Sunday at Archold Hospital. Local survivors include sons, Earl Majors, Lee W. Thomas; daughters, Barbara Wideman, Brenda McCaskill, Marilyn Bean; sisters, Robbie L. Dixon, Anna Bell Davis, Thelma Murray, Bettie Davis and Ida Pearl Street. — Hadley’s Funeral Home
