Martha Moncrief Smith

Martha Moncrief Smith, 80, of Barwick, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at her residence after a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Brooks County, she was a daughter of William Joshua and Susan Alma Boles Moncrief. She was a homemaker and a member of Barwick Baptist Church. She is survived by eight children, Wanda Smith of Barwick, Eddie (Janice) Smith of Cairo, Glenda (Gary) McLaughlin of Apopka, Fla., Jimmy (Margie) Smith of Lakeland, Fla., Gary (Lisa) Smith of Boston, Steve (Cathy) Smith of Lakeland, Fla., Greg (Jean) Smith of Thomasville, Missy (Carl) Griffin of Barwick, 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary M. Clark of Thomasville; and one brother, Gene (Bobbie) Moncrief of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Smith, and her daughter, Patty Smith. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at Barwick Baptist Church, with the Rev. Elbert Channel officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. — Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home
