Tennyson Potts Jones Bishop

Services for Tennyson Potts Jones Bishop, 85, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Eastside Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Tim Robson will officiate, and interment will be at Reedy Creek Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bishop died June 25, 2009, at Camellia Gardens. Born April 21, 1924, in Lakeland Fla., she was a daughter of the late Frank T. Potts and Elizabeth Page Potts. On May 16, 1996, in Thomasville, she married Edwin D. Bishop, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, Carter R. Jones. Mrs. Bishop was a retired Southwestern State Hospital employee. Other survivors include sons, W. Franklin Jones (Kathy) of Dublin, Wayne M. Jones of Galveston, Texas, Gary L. Jones (Patty) of Thomasville; daughters, Delorise J. Asbell (Kenneth) of Thomasville, Katherine J. Sipprell (Jim) of Ringgold; brothers, Earl Potts of Albany, Thad Potts of Eastman; sisters, Christine Newton of Camilla, Madeline Eaton of Thomasville, Francis Hatcher of Camilla, Sue Potts of Thomasville, Juanita Scully of Macon, and Janice Smith of Cairo; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Emory Carter Jones; and brothers, Oliver Potts, B.L. Potts, Robert “Bobby” Potts and James Potts.
