Maryann Nadine Chastain Elwell

Services for Maryann Nadine Chastain Elwell, 90, of Thomasville are at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Dawson Street Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate and interment is in Little Ochlocknee Cemetery. Mrs. Elwell died March 19 at her residence. Born June 30, 1919, in Ochlocknee, she was the daughter of the late Henry Basil Chastain and Ada Eugenia McDade Chastain. On Aug. 3, 1938, in Camilla, she married Hubert Alton Elwell, who survives. Mrs. Elwell was a devoted mother who loved her family and friends and enjoyed tending her flowers and gardening, oil painting and was a skilled seamstress. Other survivors include daughter, Charlotte (Cheri) Pless of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, Darrell Elwell of Alligator Point, Fla.; grandchildren, Derek T. and DeAna Elwell, Christopher Troy and Cindy Elwell, Jonathan and Erin Elwell, David and Jessica Elwell; great-grandchildren, Henry D. Elwell, Charles C. Elwell, Alton Elwell, Abigail Elwell, Jennifer Elwell; and daughter-in-law, Dixie Stack Elwell. She was preceded in death by a son, James Randall "Jim" Elwell. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Guests may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com.
