Willie James (Catfish) Williams

Services for Willie James (Catfish) Williams, 68, of St. Petersburg, Fla., are at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Peacock Center, 2061 McDonald St., Pavo. Mr. Williams died March 4, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg among his family. Born April 16, 1941, in Pavo, Ga., he was a son of the late Joseph and Rutha Mae Williams Sr. He attended Coolidge High School in Coolidge, Ga. He joined Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He relocated to St. Petersburg in 1966 from Quitman, Ga., and was formerly employed with A.D. Williams Masonry. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends. Survivors include his companion, Lela Grant of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, Johnnie James Williams of Thomasville; god daughter, Veronica Mitchell of St. Petersburg; four grand-daughters, Shermicia, Fernecia, Quinecia and Ternecia Fesser all of Tampa, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Oyana and Omar Hopkins, Emonte Timmons, Quintreveon Perry, Quiniyah Isaac and Daliyah Freelove all of Tampa, Fla.; seven brothers, Arthur (Mary Lee) Williams Sr. of Barwick, Levy (Jeannie) Williams Sr., A.D. Williams Sr., Thomas (Polly) Williams Sr. all of St. Petersburg, David Williams of Boston, Tarrence (Mae) Thomas Sr. of Valdosta; four sisters, Clara (Joe) Adams of Opa Locka, Fla., Sarah Williams of Boston, Brenda (Israel) Henry of Tallahassee, Fla.; Dorothy (Elvis) Lane of Quitman; and a numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Ann Fesser; and brother, Joseph Williams Jr. The viewing is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., today at Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Quitman, Ga. — Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Centers – Tyrone Chapel, St. Petersburg, Fla.
