Maris Marquitta Smith

Services for Maris Marquitta Smith, 54, of Thomasville, are at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Second Presbyterian Church. Pastor Addie Walker, Barbara Marable, the Rev. LeNard Spears will officiate and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers are Clifton Filmore and members of the Thomasville High School class of 1973. Mrs. Smith died March 7 at her residence. Born Sept. 10, 1955, in Thomasville, she was a daughter of J.P. and Pearlie Smith. She attended Thomasville High School and Thomas University where she received her associate degree. She was a retired secretary for Johnson Institutional Service. Survivors include her parents, J.P. and Pearlie Smith of Thomasville; daughter, Octavia Smith (Donald Berry) of Thomasville; son, Billy T. Daphney of Thomasville; significant other, Robert Travis of Thomasville; sisters, Sherrill Allen, Tracie Larnin (Willie Ingram) of Thomasville; brothers, James Smith (Krystal) of Thomasville, Heath Smith (Alice) of Atlanta; sister, Nichole Christian of York, Penn.; and brother, Stephone Wilson (Brenda) of Thomasville. The viewing is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., today at the funeral home. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
