Carolyn Annell Carter Smith

Services for Carolyn Annell Carter Smith, 65, of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. The Rev. Larry Harris will officiate and interment is in Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. Pallbearers are Joshua Bell, Branden Compton, Curtis Ansley, Matthew Hudson, Trent Cooke, Ray Brumble, Randall Newsome, Virgil Adams and Thomas Rogers. Mrs. Smith died July 19, in Ft. White, Fla., at the home of Robert and Jean Driggers. Born Jan. 28, 1944, in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Albert Carter and Eloise Starling Carter. She was married to Billy F. Smith, who survives. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for DAV. Other survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Janie Abrams of Thomasville; daughter and son-in-law, Deann and Thomas Hyslop of Thomasville; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tammy Newsome of Soperton, Ga.; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Ronald Everett and Carol Newsome of Rentz, Ga.; and step-daughter Sandra Newsome of Statesboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Lee Abrams, Stephen Hyslop, Eric Hyslop, Devin Newsome, Alex Newsome, Billy Newsome, Lewis Graham, Thomas Rogers, Joshua Bell, Ryan Newsome, Adam Newsome, Daniel Newsome, Marco Newsome, Melissa Anderson, Scottie Anderson; great-grandchildren, Brien Hyslop, Luke Abrams, Faith Bell and Tyler Bell; nieces and nephews, Becky and Vergil Adams, Dale Baker, Ricky Whiddon, Kay Massey, Donda Hurst, Debbie Nesmith, Randall Newsome, Tammy Hiers, Gena Hudson, Melissa Compton, Curtis Ansley, Robin Kindred; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Robert Driggers of Fort White, Fla. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Nelson; and sister, Mary Newsome. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., today at the funeral home.
